Police: Lakeland McDonald's employee shoots at customers after drive-thru argument

A dispute over a wrong order escalated as the customers and employee threw drinks at each other.

LAKELAND, Fla. — An argument at a Lakeland McDonald's drive-thru turned into a shooting after customers complained their order was wrong.

The customers at the fast-food restaurant on East Memorial Boulevard argued with Chassidy Gardner, 22, at the drive-thru window just before 1 a.m. on Friday.

Gardner threw a drink at the customers when they were leaving, and two of the customers got out of their car and threw drinks at Gardner, according to a Facebook post by the Lakeland Police Department.

The customers drove around to a different side of the building and Gardner went outside to argue. Gardner shot at the car as they were leaving the parking lot, and the car was hit at least once, police said.

Gardner was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
