JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was found dead in a retention pond in the Grand Park area of Jacksonville Tuesday morning, as the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is calling on the community for help in identifying the man.
JSO's Sergeant Rudlaff says on Tuesday at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the 3300 block of Nancy Street in reference to the man's body found. Next, Rudlaff says the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene and "were able to paddle out in a boat to recover the body and bring it to the shore."
JSO says the victim is identified as a Black man but, police "do not have an age range at this time." Rudlaff told First Coast News that JSO does not have "any types of injuries" to share that would indicate a cause of death either.
One neighbor in the area told police that they heard gunshots nearby on Monday, according to the incident report.
Police say if anyone has any information on the unidentified man or on a person missing, they are encouraged to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
