JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — A man is in custody after battering multiple people, including his ex-girlfriend, and shooting her current partner when they came to help Sunday morning in Jacksonville Beach, police said.
An investigation found a disturbance turned violent when the suspect battered "subject(s)" in the 800 block of Shetter Avenue, police said.
The disturbance spilled into the area of 18th Avenue North and 3rd Street North where police said the suspect found his ex-girlfriend and began assaulting her.
The victim's current partner came to her aid and was shot in the leg by the suspect, police said.
The suspect fled the area, taking his ex-girlfriend with him before he was ultimately found and taken into custody by police.
Police said there is no threat to the public, and all parties involved in the incident are being interviewed by investigators.
An investigation is ongoing.
