POLK COUNTY, Fla. — The hunt is on for a man who reportedly stole alcohol from an apartment home last month in Polk County to make a cocktail known as a screwdriver.
At around 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 23, the man walked into an apartment that was not his, the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.
A person who lives in the apartment said the man used a secondary door to get inside, which isn't usually used and the person did not know that it was unlocked, deputies say.
The man walked out of the apartment with a bottle of Sveda vodka and Florida Natural Orange Juice – ingredients he was looking for to make a drink called a screwdriver.
He also reportedly tried to open the door of an apartment across the hallway. However, it was locked and the man left the building.
Law enforcement said the drinks the man stole are worth just over $35 and they are still looking for him.
Anyone with information regarding the man's whereabouts is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 863-577-1600 or Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-888-400-8477.
