JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was shot in the back twice on Jacksonville's Northside early Thursday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO's Sergeant Lloyd says around 1 a.m., officers responded to 1100 West 21st St. in reference about a person shot. Upon arrival, officers found the unidentified man in his 30s suffering from the two gunshot wounds as he was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

JSO's initial investigation has determined that a 'Shot Spotter' was activated in the nearby area of where the shooting took place and that it activated because "multiple rounds discharged" in which allowed police to be alerted.

Lloyd says "there is currently no suspect description" as JSO's detectives were on scene canvassing the area for potential witnesses and looking for possible surveillance video. The shooting is under an ongoing investigation, police say.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
