Man shot on Jacksonville's Westside in a 'targeted, attempted robbery'

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says a man was shot on La Marche Drive, located across from the Walmart on Normandy Boulevard on the Westside.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was shot Wednesday morning on Jacksonville's Westside in what police believe was a "targeted, attempted robbery," according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO's Sergeant Dukes says at 3 a.m., the sheriff's office was notified of a man who was shot. Police say a man in his 20s had walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. Nothing was stolen in the attempted robbery turned shooting, according to Dukes.

"This is a non-life-threatening injury and he has been treated and released," Dukes told First Coast News.

Dukes says the man was shot on La Marche Drive, located across from the Walmart on Normandy Boulevard, as there is currently no suspect information at this time.

Detectives were on scene following the shooting, collecting evidence, canvassing the area for surveillance video and talked with witnesses. JSO says an investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the shooting, is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
