Man shot in hand, back, side during altercation at Jacksonville apartment complex, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was shot multiple times during a verbal altercation at an apartment complex on Jacksonville's Westside Tuesday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO's Sergeant Richardson says the man is suffering from non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the hand, back and side, and that he is stable at a local hospital.

Police say after the shooting happened, the suspect fled the area in a vehicle.

"Officers quickly responded to the scene, assessed the situation, and were able to locate the suspect," Richardson said. "Detectives also responded to the scene, canvassed the area for video surveillance, spoke with witnesses, and are in the process of speaking with the suspect."

The sheriff's office says the incident appears to be isolated and that both the man and suspect know each other.
