Man shot in the hip after crash at Atlantic and University intersection; JSO detain subjects

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —  A man was shot in the hip after a traffic accident and is expected to be OK, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Around 9:42 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the intersection of Atlantic and University boulevards regarding a man shot. The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

JSO said the victim was involved in a minor traffic accident before the shooting and the suspect exited his vehicle and fired multiple shots in the direction of the victim’s vehicle after the accident. Officers responded to the scene and detained all individuals involved, police said.

The shooting appears to be an isolated incident, JSO said.
