JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville officers responded to a shooting around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday in the 45th & Moncrief area.
Officers arrived to the 1600 block of Brook Forest Drive to find a man, later identified as Jarvis Grant, with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition, according to JSO.
The sheriff's office have identified 23-year-old Tyrelle Jackson as the person of interest in the shooting. He is being charged with attempted murder.
According to the incident report, Jackson was apparently dropping off a child at a witness's residence when he saw Grant walking nearby on a sidewalk. Jackson then allegedly, approached and shot Grant to then have police called at the residence officers responded to.
The incident report states Grant told police he had an interaction with Jackson a couple months prior, when Grant took the phone of the witness and told Jackson to "chill out," due to an argument between Jackson and the witness. Jackson responded to Grant saying to stay out of his business.
On May 30, Jackson was located by the Orange County Sheriff's Office and arrested for an unrelated arrest warrant. On May 31, Jackson was taken to JSO for interviewing.
