JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was shot shortly after midnight Tuesday and is currently in non-life-threatening condition, as police say the shooting took place on Jacksonville's westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Officers responded to a local hospital around 12:30 a.m. where they met the unidentified man and saw that he was suffering from a single gunshot. Police say the man had taken himself to the hospital.
JSO's Sergeant Scott says preliminary investigation reveals that the man was approached near the intersection of Beaver Street and Chaffee Road by an unknown suspect who allegedly attempted to rob him and then shot him in the hand.
Scott says the suspect then fled the scene on foot.
