Man shot in front of Etta's Motel in Moncrief area of Jacksonville

The man's injuries were life threatening, but JSO Sgt. Karen Dukes said he may be stabilizing.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his 30's was shot in the Moncrief area of Jacksonville Wednesday night.

At 6 p.m., the man was shot outside of Etta's Motel in the 5900 block of Moncrief Road West, according to Sgt. Karen Dukes with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

He was suffering from a single gunshot wound when first responders got to the scene, which was considered life-threatening.

The Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department took him to the hospital, where he was undergoing surgery around 8 p.m.

Dukes says it is possible the victim is stabilizing now.
