JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was hospitalized Sunday evening after he was shot in the leg in the city's New Town area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
At approximately 7:04 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the 1200 block of West 3rd Street in reference to a man shot.
When officers arrived, they found a man with a single gunshot wound to the leg. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation shows the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with another man before the shooting.
During the altercation, the suspect pulled out a hand gun and shot the victim once in the leg.
Police said this is an isolated incident.
Detectives canvased the scene for possible video surveillance that could have captured the incident and spoke with witnesses.
No suspect is in police custody.
