Man shot by suspect wearing ski mask in drive-by shooting on Jacksonville's Westside, police say

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is recovering after he was shot while walking on the Westside Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said around 10:30 a.m. officers responded to the intersection of Brannon Avenue and Susie Street regarding a person shot. Officers located a man in his mid-20s suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremities.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the initial investigation determined that the victim was walking near the intersection when a gray sedan stopped, and a passenger opened fire on the victim.

Witnesses told police they heard between three and five shots.

Police said the suspect vehicle was an older gray model sedan with a dark tint. The suspect is described as medium height, thin-build man wearing a ski mask and blue jeans.

JSO's Crime Scene and Robbery and Violent Crime unit detectives were on the scene, canvassing for witnesses and video surveillance.
