JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was shot at a "large, public party" on Jacksonville's Northside Friday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO's Sergeant Dukes says at 7:30 p.m., the sheriff's office was notified of the shooting that took place in a parking lot at 8715 Lem Turner Rd. Dukes says the unidentified man who is in his 40s, was an "unintended" target and was shot once after a fight broke out.

Police say a single shot was fired at the party and "everyone left the scene." The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene afterward, JSO says, and took the man to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Dukes says the man has since been treated and released from the hospital, as the "individuals involved in the fight are unknown at this time."

Anyone with information regarding the shooting, is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
