Man known as Lonzie Barton's father released from prison

Chris Barton was released Tuesday and placed on probation. He was sentenced to three years for drug charges and a battery charge that is not related to Lonzie's death; he was caught selling drugs to undercover cops.

The man known to be Lonzie Barton's father is out of prison, the Florida Department of Corrections confirmed with First Coast News.

Chris Barton was released Tuesday and placed on probation. He was sentenced to three years for drug charges and a battery charge that is not related to Lonzie's death; he was caught selling drugs to undercover cops.

According to court documents, Barton will be on probation for three years.

First Coast News spoke with Barton on the phone Wednesday and he declined an interview.

Lonzie was only 2 years old when he was reported missing in 2015. He was found dead six months after his disappearance.

Lonzie's mother, Lonna Barton, pleaded guilty to child neglect and lying to police in relation to the case. She is still in prison and isn't scheduled to be released until 2027.

Ruben Ebron, Lonna Barton's boyfriend at the time, pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in Lonzie's death and is serving a 20-year sentence.
