Man jumps out of moving car following kidnapping and beating in Brunswick, police say

Law enforcement in Glynn County are searching for three people accused of kidnapping, beating and robbing a man last weekend.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Police in Brunswick are searching for three people accused of kidnapping, beating and robbing a man Saturday night.

The police report states the man was tied up as the suspects, two men and a woman, discussed killing him. The victim was able to escape by jumping out of a moving car.

According to the police report, the victim tried to go to a woman’s home Saturday when a man answered the door and hit him in the face with a pistol. The report states the victim was taken inside were he was tied up and beaten.

The suspects are accused of transferring thousands of dollars from the victim’s account to their own through an app on the victim’s phone.

The report states the woman placed a syringe on the victim’s thumb, threatening to kill him with a fentanyl overdose.

The victim was tied up and put in the backseat of his own car, the report states. He ended up jumping out of the moving vehicle near the hospital and ran to the maternity center at Southeast General Health System.

People on Maple Road, where it all started, are thinking of their own families.

“Stuff like that really hit home because it could be your family member,” said one man who did not want to be identified. “It could be anybody’s cousin or anything. I think it was just crazy.”

According to another police report, the next day police found the victim’s car and the driver led them on a more than 10-mile police pursuit that reached up to 120 miles per hour at points. Law enforcement later found the car abandoned.

Law enforcement is still searching for the suspects.
