Man suffered 'life-threatening injures' after shooting on Jacksonville's Southside

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a man was found with a single gun shot wound. He was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is in the hospital after a shooting in the Woodland Acres neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. 

The shooting happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the 7800 block of Jasper Avenue.

Officers responded to the address in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a man in his 20s or 30s with a single gunshot wound to his upper body. 

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department took the victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Police said the man was still undergoing surgery at around 1 a.m. Monday. 

A couple witnesses who were inside the residence at the time of the shooting were detained by police. They are cooperating. 

No arrests have been made and police are investigating a motive for the shooting.
