JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after he was found lying in a road with multiple gunshot wounds in the Avondale area of Jacksonville Saturday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO's Sergeant Ray Reeves says at approximately 8:45 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 3800 block of St. Johns Avenue in reference to the unidentified man found lying in the street. Reeves says "a citizen called in after hearing gunshots" and found the man in the street.
When officers arrived, JSO says they found the man and called the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department to assist. And when first responders arrived, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reeves says the incident is under an ongoing investigation.
