JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after he was found shot in the driveway of a home in the Oakleaf Plantation area Wednesday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO's Sergeant Lessard says at approximately 7:55 p.m., officers responded to the 8900 block of Winding Vine Drive East in reference to a person shot. When officers arrived, police say they found the unidentified man in the driveway, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Next, Lessard says first responders with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived on scene and pronounced the man dead.
JSO's homicide and crime scene detectives, as well as the State Attorney's Office, are conducting an investigation.
"At this early stage of the investigation, we are working quickly obtain any video surveillance to identify potential witnesses that may have information regarding this shooting," Lessard said. "We do not have any suspect description at this time."
