JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man claiming to be Le'Keian Woods' cousin, was arrested on Wednesday as he is accused of making a "shooting threat" toward the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, according to his arrest report.
Woods was arrested in late September in a takedown recorded by bystanders. His mugshot subsequently went viral after it showed what appeared to be a badly beaten face, his eyes swollen shut.
Waheed Felton, 23, is facing a "making threats" charge and is currently being held in Duval County Jail where he is required to pay $15,003 for his release, according to jail records.
JSO says on Sept. 30, their Intelligence Unit was contacted by patrol in reference to the shooting threat that was called into the sheriff's office's non-emergency number. The arrest report states that Felton was upset with the way JSO's Gang Unit arrested Woods.
While the redacted arrest report doesn't state what Felton allegedly said, the report does reveal that on Sept. 30, police started the process to track down Felton's location and identity by tracing the number displayed to JSO: 813-430-6550.
After "several exigent legal request" to Sinch, TextNow and Spectrum, JSO says they identified the location of the cable modem that provided internet service to Felton, which was located at 4007 Ashford Green Pl. in Tampa. The name on the cable modem account was Karolyn Thornton, the arrest report states.
Following an unsuccessful attempt to make contact with those who reside at the address, the arrest report states that on Oct. 3, law enforcement databases revealed that Felton resides at the address. JSO says "searches" revealed that the apartment appears to be occupied by Thornton, Felton's grandmother, which matched the Spectrum cable modem information that police obtained.
The arrest report states that Felton "has a lengthy criminal history in the Tampa area." Felton's court date is scheduled for Nov. 2 at 1 p.m., according to jail records.
Family members of Woods that First Coast News reached out to said they do not know who Felton is.
