Man charged with murder of 44-year-old, attempted murder of a 16-year-old

A man was arrested Monday in connection with the murder of a 44-year-old man and attempted murder of a 16-year-old girl last November.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man was arrested Monday in connection with the murder of a 44-year-old man and attempted murder of a 16-year-old girl last November.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office held a press conference on Tuesday, announcing that they arrested Toby Stafford. They say Stafford is the suspect who shot and killed Albert Eperson in the 10100 block of Melanie Avenue November 19, 2017. A 16-year-old girl was also shot in the chest and received critical injuries, according to her mother. She was transported to the hospital where she underwent surgery and survived.

JSO said that the overnight shooting happened because of a "domestic altercation ... boyfriend, girlfriend stuff that led to this."

JSO said that there were several eyewitnesses to the shooting and the reason why it took months leading to the arrest was due to having to find the witnesses. "It took some time to get everything lined up," they said during the press conference.

Stafford was arrested on Monday and charged with murder and attempted murder.
