The man who reportedly led police on a high-speed chase through Mayport following a kidnapping and robbery Wednesday is now facing an attempted murder charge of a Jacksonville Sheriff's officer.
JSO said officers arrested 26-year-old Lawrence J. Hall at 10:23 p.m. on Wednesday. He is currently in serious condition at Memorial Hospital, according to a hospital spokesperson.
On Wednesday afternoon, Hall allegedly robbed Lucky Charms Arcade, a Mayport-area internet café, before kidnapping an 84-year-old man and leading police on a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended on Atlantic Boulevard with the kidnap victim’s vehicle totaled and four people – the victim, suspect and two Jacksonville Sheriff’s officers -- in the hospital.
JSO identified the kidnapping victim as 84-year-old Louis Reese. The two officers are identified as 35-year-old Josh Wiggins and 29-year-old Christopher Rouselle. Wiggins is in serious condition and Rouselle is in good condition, according to the hospital spokesperson.
Reese is listed in critical condition, the hospital spokesperson said.
Hall was released from prison Sept. 9 after serving time for burglary and fleeing police, according to arrest records obtained by First Coast News. Hall also served two years in prison in 2012, convicted of burglary, traffic in stolen property and falsifying information to a pawnbroker.
In the most recent case, Hall was charged for fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement and attempted murder. Further charges are pending in reference to the robbery and kidnapping.
