Man and woman shot on the Westside, suspect has been detained, police say

The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. Saturday a few blocks east of Edward Waters University, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a man and a woman are recovering from non-life-threatening injuries after a woman suspect shot in their direction several times.

At approximately 11 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Steele Street to two people shot. JSO said there was a verbal altercation between the man and a woman suspect. 

The suspect fired multiple shots at the victims, striking the man in the leg and the woman in the arm. Both victims were taken to a local hospital.

The injuries the victims received are non life threatening, police said. The suspect was detained and the agency said the incident was isolated.
