LAKE CITY, Fla. — A man accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile under the age of 12 was arrested by the Lake City Police Department on Saturday.
According to a new release, Dallas Walters, 26, faces charges of sexual battery by an adult on a victim under 12 years of age, aggravated child abuse, lewd and lascivious behavior and tampering with a witness.
Police said the juvenile victim told their guardian there was unwanted sexual activity between them and Walters on several occasions.
When the victim's guardian was made aware, they called police.
The Child Protective Team was contacted to interview the victim with help from investigators at the Lake City Police Department.
The victim said they were scared to tell anyone about the unwanted contact because Walters threatened to kill them if they told anyone.
After the interview, officers went to the victim's home looking for Walters, but he was no longer there.
Walters was ultimately located by investigators, and taken to the Columbia County Jail where he is being held on no bond.
