BAKER COUNTY, Fla. -- The mother of murdered toddler Lonzie Barton pleaded guilty to multiple drug related counts in Baker County Tuesday morning.
Lonna and Chris Barton face several charges related to the sale of the synthetic drug known as Molly within 1,000 feet of a specific location, as well as possession of Molly and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, their arrest reports list charges for the delivery or manufacture of those drugs. The sheriff says Chris Barton is also charged with the sale and possession of opiates.
Attorneys for Lonna asked that she be sentenced to five years in prison with credit for time already served, however the judge made the sentence seven years instead.
Chris Barton also entered a guilty plea and will serve three years minus 203 days already served. Barton will also serve three years probation after.
The pair was arrested in September on felony drug charges after selling drugs to undercover cops. Hours before they were arrested they had been in court in Duval County for a hearing over the custody of their 5-year-old daughter and had each undergone a drug screening.
The drug charges in Baker County are separate from the case involving the disappearance and killing of Lonzie Barton in Duval County, for which Lonna Barton was sentenced to five years in prison. The seven years will be on top of that sentence.
Her boyfriend, Ruben Ebron, will serve 20 years on multiple counts related to Lonzie's killing.
