An armed suspect was found dead after a shooting on the Northside that killed one victim and left another hospitalized Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO said they were called out to a home in the 3300 block of Lannie Road at 8:40 p.m. in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they found one woman had been shot.
The woman was conscious and told police that the armed suspect, only identified as an adult man, was inside the home with another individual.
Police tried to make contact with the man, were unsuccessful. They called in their SWAT team, JSO said.
The SWAT team was able to make its way inside of the home and found the man and another woman both dead with gunshot wounds. Police believe the man shot and killed the woman before he took his own life, JSO said.
The injured woman was transported to the hospital where she is in critical, but stable condition.
During the SWAT situation, JSO warned residents to stay inside and lock their doors. That warning has since been lifted.
JSO believes this was a domestic incident.
Tyler Bloom lives just down the street from where situation played-out into Monday morning.
“I’m just hurt to see one of my best friends go,” Bloom said.
He learned that his longtime friend and schoolmate, 18-year-old Jodie Lore, was shot and killed.
Bloom said he’s still processing what happened.
“Just hard," Bloom said. "Can’t get it through my mind that she’s gone because part of me thinks she’s still alive."
JSO's Homicide Unit is now investigating.
