JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is searching for answers after a woman was found with "an apparent head injury," then pronounced dead Thursday morning.
JSO's Sergeant Highfill says at about 4:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 2800 block of Bulls Bay Highway in reference to the woman who was "unresponsive."
Police said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and that her death is currently classified as "undetermined" until an autopsy is completed by the Medical Examiner's Office.
Highfill says detectives with the Homicide and Crime Scene units of the sheriff's office are actively investigating the incident; anyone with information on it is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
