JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman is recovering after she was shot in the face while driving in Englewood Sunday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police said around 10:30 a.m., the victim was driving in the 4900 block of Richard Street when a suspect opened fire on her vehicle, striking her in the face.
The woman's injuries are considered non-life-threatening, according to police. The victim, a woman in her 30s, drove herself to the hospital before officers arrived on the scene.
Officers took the suspect, a man in his 40s, into custody.
Police said they don't believe the suspect and victim knew each other, adding the shooting was isolated and there is no threat to the community.
