JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman is recovering after she was shot at a social gathering on the Northside Sunday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police said around 5:27 p.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of W. 30th Street, near Moncrief Road, regarding a shooting.
Officers located the victim, a woman in her mid-20s, suffering from a single gunshot wound to her leg. She was taken to a local hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
Police said their initial investigation determined there was a social gathering at a residence when the unknown suspect fired multiple shots, striking the victim. Police said there were approximately 20 people at the gathering at the time of the shooting.
The suspect fled the area in a silver SUV, which has since been located by police. However, the suspect remains outstanding. Police said they are gathering more information before a suspect description is released to the public. Investigators believe the shooter used a handgun and fired around 20 gunshots.
JSO detectives canvassed the area for surveillance and spoke with witnesses.
