JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville sheriff's office community service officer was injured when a woman suspected of being under the influence hit his cruiser Tuesday, according to JSO.

Police say the community officer was working a crash when the incident happened. A woman was driving an SUV on Argyle Forest Boulevard and "plowed into" the cruiser, JSO said.

The officer was rushed to the hospital. JSO did not say what his injuries are, but said he was released from the hospital. However, they said he is "still in pain."

According to JSO, the driver was "swaying, having trouble standing up, and showing glassy, watery eyes," and told police she took prescription medications, had "double vision" and "should not have been driving."

She was subsequently charged with driving under the influence and DUI with property damage/injury.
