JSO: Man found dead in middle of road on Jacksonville's Westside

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says gunshots were not found on the man's body, however, it believes foul play is involved in his death.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his 50s was found dead in the middle of Wesconnett Boulevard on Jacksonville's Westside Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers and members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene at 3:45 a.m. after receiving a call about the man's body being found.

JSO says gunshot wounds were not found on the man's body, however, due to injuries on his body, police believe foul play is involved.

Furthermore, the sheriff's office says investigators are interviewing neighbors and looking for surveillance video from nearby businesses to learn more, as the man's death as of now is classified as "undetermined."

Currently, JSO does not have any suspect information and it did not release the identity of the man.

Wesconnett Boulevard between 103rd and 105th streets is currently closed due to the active investigation, according to police; the portion of the road is expected to reopen around 9:30 a.m.
