JSO: Teen, woman shot in 2 separate Jacksonville shootings on city's Westside

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the shootings happened 17 minutes apart from each other - the first one at 9 p.m. Thursday, and the other at 9:17 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two separate shootings on Jacksonville's Westside Thursday night left a teen and woman injured, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said the shootings happened 17 minutes apart from each other - the first one at 9 p.m., and the other at 9:17 p.m.

In the first shooting, JSO Sergeant Dishman said officers arrived at a local hospital to meet the teen after the shooting had already occurred. The teen is "an adult male in his late teens," Dishman said.

The sergeant added the teen is stable after being shot once, and that the initial investigation revealed he was shot at multiple times by an unknown person while driving near the 1700 block of Edgewood Avenue.

In the second shooting, Dishman said officers responded to Lindsey Terrace Apartments, located at 8500 Argyle Business Loop, and found a woman in her mid-30s "suffering from a single gunshot wound."

The woman was then taken to a local hospital, according to Dishman, as she sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

JSO said its initial investigation revealed there was an argument between several people in which during the argument, the woman was struck when multiple gunshots were fired.

Dishman told First Coast News detectives processed both crime scenes for evidence and canvassed the areas for witnesses and surveillance video.

Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
