JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is now dead after being shot during an argument in the Urban Core neighborhood Saturday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO responded to the 1800 block of East 24th Street after receiving multiple 911 calls of a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a victim in his early 20's suffering from a gunshot wound.
The man was transported to UF Health where he was initially listed in critical condition, JSO said. On Sunday he died from his injuries.
The victim was reportedly hanging with a group of individuals in front of an old church building on 24th Street, where a block party was happening next door, police said.
Witnesses told police that at some point the man and an unidentified suspect got into an argument where the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim.
The suspect remains at large as officers continue to investigate.
