JSO: Security guard at Jacksonville gaming business shot to death by 2 masked men

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A security guard at a Jacksonville gaming business was shot to death early Thursday morning by two masked men, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office told First Coast News.

JSO's Sergeant Highfill says around 2 a.m., patrol officers responded to Dragon Arcade, located in the 700 block of Edgewood Avenue North, in reference to the security guard who is a man, being reported shot.

When officers arrived, the man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Highfill, as he was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

"What we know now, based on preliminary evidence, is that two masked and armed suspects entered the business and engaged the armed security guard with gunfire," Highfill said in a statement. "We do not know the circumstances surrounding the incident."

Police further said the two masked men showed up with automatic guns, and that there have been no arrests made; there is currently no description of the suspects nor a description of the vehicle they arrived in.

Highfill said the shooting is believed to be "an isolated incident" and is under an active investigation.
