JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A security guard at a Jacksonville gaming business was shot to death early Thursday morning by two masked men, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office told First Coast News.
JSO's Sergeant Highfill says said patrol officers responded to Dragon Arcade, located in the 700 block of Edgewood Avenue North, around 2 a.m. in reference to the security guard being shot.
When officers arrived, the man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Highfill, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
"What we know now, based on preliminary evidence, is that two masked and armed suspects entered the business and engaged the armed security guard with gunfire," Highfill said in a statement. "We do not know the circumstances surrounding the incident."
Police said the two masked men showed up with automatic guns, but there is currently no other description of the suspects nor a description of the vehicles they arrived in.
Highfill said the shooting is believed to be "an isolated incident" and is under an active investigation.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
