The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting on Jacksonville's Westside on Monday.

According to police, they responded to shooting in the 1000 block of Woodstock Avenue at 11:38 a.m. When they arrived, they found an adult male had been shot and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

JSO's initial investigation revealed that someone was trying to break in through the side window and the homeowner shot the individual. Officers say that he was shot outside the home.

All parties are in custody for questioning. Some witnesses advised police that they knew each other.

"Currently, we're investigating this... in recent days this area has experienced a little bit of an increase in violence," says Lt. Sircar, Zone 5 Watch Commander." We are going to increase presence out here to make sure that over the holiday weekend we can suppress some of this violence."

Less than a mile away, two shootings happened within earshot of one another on Sunday.
