A 3-year-old was shot Wednesday evening in Mid-Westside Jacksonville, police said during a press conference.
According to the JSO, the shooting happened in the 1800 block of McMillan Street.
First responders took the child to the hospital with a gunshot wound to leg. The child is in good, stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
At this time, JSO said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and could not say whether the nature of the shooting was accidental.
However, police said at this time, they are not searching for any suspects and do not believe the public is in any danger.
In addition to police, Children and Family Services is also investigating the shooting.

So far in 2021, four children have been shot in Jacksonville. Of that, one was a deadly shooting.
