JSO: One person killed in armed robbery, crash in Holiday Hill area

JSO said that the incident happened in the 6400 block of Atlantic Boulevard.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One man died early Saturday morning after he and a woman were shot during an armed robbery in Arlington before crashing their car in the Holiday Hill area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO said the armed robbery happened in the Arlington Road area at an I & S Food Store at 6812 Lillian Road. Police said the victims were parked inside a car in front of the store when a male suspect approached the vehicle and attempted to rob them.

JSO said during the robbery, the suspect fired several shots, striking the man and woman.

The suspect then entered a vehicle and fled the scene, JSO said.

The victims' car sped off and crashed a few minutes later into the fence of Crossroads Christian School in the 6400 block of Atlantic Boulevard just before 4 a.m., police said. Upon responding to the crash, JSO found the victims suffering from gunshot wounds and were notified of the robbery. Both victims were rushed to a local hospital, where the male victim was pronounced dead and the female victim remains in stable condition.

Police are working to identify the male suspect and they believe multiple people may have been involved in the robbery. JSO said they do not have further information about the suspect or the vehicle he reportedly fled in.

JSO is checking to see if there is any surveillance video from the store that may have captured the incident.
