JSO: 2 men hospitalized after being shot in 2 separate Jacksonville shootings

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the two separate shootings happened within a span of four hours.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two shootings in Jacksonville within a span of four hours — one on the city's Westside and the other in the city's Mixon Town area — have led to two men being hospitalized, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

In the first shooting, which happened Tuesday night, JSO Sergeant Dishman said a man was taken to the hospital after he was found suffering from "multiple gunshot wounds" when officers responded to Corsair Avenue.

Police said the man is in his late 30s, he was found around 9 p.m., and his injuries are non-life-threatening.

Details on what led up to the shooting are "unknown," according to Dishman.

In the second shooting, JSO Sergeant Richardson said officers responded to Clemente Drive at approximately 12:55 a.m. Wednesday after a man was shot. When officers arrived, the man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

"The preliminary investigation revealed the adult male was shot in his chest while in a field on Clemente Drive," Richardson said. "An unknown individual notified Jacksonville Fire and Rescue about the male in the field and left before officers arrived. Detectives responded and were unable to speak with the victim before going into surgery."

Richardson said the sheriff's office has "limited information" about the incident at this time.

Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
