Man shot to death in Jacksonville's New Town area, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after a shooting in Jacksonville's New Town area Thursday night, according to police.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said around 8 p.m., officers, who were on Beaver Street and heard multiple gunshots, responded to the 700 block of Eaverson Street and found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded and pronounced the man deceased at the scene.

JSO's Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to the scene to conduct their investigations.

The investigation is ongoing and police are coordinating with the Medical Examiner's Office and State Attorney's Office.

Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.

No suspect information was provided by police.
