JSO: Man shot, killed after dispute in Brentwood

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said two people got into a dispute which ended in a man being fatally shot. Police detained the other person involved in the fight.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE: The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 41-year-old Antony Brown.

A man is dead after a shooting in the Brentwood neighborhood Friday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers responded around 10 p.m. to the 800 block of Woodbine Street in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The initial investigation determined two people were involved in a dispute which ended in one of them being shot. 

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded and conducted life-saving measures to the victim, but he was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives will JSO's Homicide and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to conduct their investigations.

Investigators do not know the circumstances surrounding the dispute or the relationship between the individuals.

Police said investigation efforts will be coordinated with the State Attorney's Office and the Medical Examiner's Office.

Investigators believe the shooting is isolated, and there is no further threat to the community.
