JSO: Man shot during argument after 'multiple gunshots were fired' on Mid-Westside

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said there was a "large gathering" in the area prior to the shooting Sunday night.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is recovering after he was shot on the Mid-Westside Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Around 8 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Grothe Street in reference to a person shot.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a man in his early 70s, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition.

The initial investigation determined the shooting stemmed from an argument that occurred during a large gathering in the area. Police said multiple shots were fired during the argument, with the victim struck once.

JSO Violent Crime and Crime Scene detectives are on the scene processing evidence, canvassing for possible witnesses and video surveillance.

No suspect is currently in custody, police said.
