JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was injured in a Southside shooting Friday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Around 10 a.m., officers responded to the 5400 block of Barker Street in reference to someone being shot. Officers then found the victim sitting in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.
The victim was transported by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department to a local hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
The initial investigation showed the victim and suspect know each other, police said. The victim was standing on Barker Street when the suspect approached the victim in his vehicle. After a brief argument, and the suspect shot the victim one time from inside the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect drove the vehicle a "short distance away" before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot, JSO said.
At this time, we consider this to be an isolated incident and no immediate threat to the community.
