JSO: Man in critical condition after being shot while driving on Jacksonville's Northside

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the man is in his mid-20s. He was shot on Webb Road early Monday morning around 3 a.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was hospitalized in critical condition early Monday morning after being shot while driving on Jacksonville's Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO Sergeant Richardson says at approximately 3 a.m., officers responded to the 13000 block of Webb Road in reference to the shooting.

"The initial investigation revealed that the adult male was driving a vehicle on Webb Road when an unknown individual fired multiple shots in his direction," Richardson said. "The vehicle the victim was driving was struck multiple times, and the victim was struck once in the chest."

The man who Richardson said is in his mid-20s, was the only person in the vehicle and was shot on Webb Road, but drove himself to the 2700 block of Starratt Road before being taken to a local hospital by first responders.

"This appears to be an isolated incident," Richardson said. "We were unable to speak with victim before he received medical treatment, so we have no suspect information to provide at this time."

JSO said it is currently unknown whether if a suspect or suspects were on foot or in another vehicle. Detectives spoke to people nearby the scene who said they heard the shooting, but didn't see anything, according to Richardson; detectives also canvassed the area for surveillance video, but did not come up with anything.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
