JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was hospitalized Monday night after being shot by a man and female at a store in Northwest Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO Sergeant Smith says around 8 p.m., patrol officers were sent to 7900 Moncrief Dinsmore Rd. in reference to the man who was shot. The man is in his 30s and he was taken to a local hospital by a "private vehicle," according to Smith, as he suffered a "non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his right hand."
JSO says its initial investigation on the shooting has revealed that the victim was at a "local store" when he was confronted by a man and female.
"The victim and the male got into a fight recently," JSO said in a statement. "After a brief altercation the male and female produced firearms. The male and female both shot at the victim striking him once in the hand. Suspects were last seen driving away from the scene in a black truck."
Smith says JSO's Crime Scene Unit detectives have processed the crime scene, while JSO's Robbery and Violent Crime detectives are actively canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance video.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
