JSO: Man shot to death in vehicle found near Arlington Expressway

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said no suspect is in custody.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was found shot to death inside a vehicle near Arlington Expressway Sunday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 4:10 a.m., officers responded to a call regarding shots fired in the area. While headed to the scene, located in the 700 block of Cesery Boulevard, the call was upgraded to a person shot.

Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 20s or 30s who was shot.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene and pronounced the man dead.

JSO said there was an indication the gunfire came from outside the vehicle. 

It is unclear if the victim was shot while driving the vehicle, according to police.

In a photo captured by First Coast News, investigators surround a light-colored sedan that appears to have crashed into a tree.

JSO's Homicide and Crime Scene detectives were on the scene along with members from the Medical Examiner's Office and the State Attorney's Office.

Investigators are working to identify the victim's identity at this time. No suspect is in police custody.
