JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after he was found shot multiple times in the Ortega Farms area Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Officers responded around 9:50 a.m. to Ortega Farms Boulevard near Timuquana Road in reference to a person shot.
When officers arrived, they found a man on the ground outside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded and took the man to the hospital where he died.
Members of JSO's Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit are investigating the shooting and will coordinate with the Medical Examiner's Office and State Attorney's Office.
Right now, police said the circumstances of the incident and the relationship between those involved are unknown. The classification of the incident is pending, police said.
Police believe the incident is isolated and there is no threat to the community.
All involved parties and witnesses are in police custody waiting to be interviewed, according to police.
The investigation remains ongoing.
