JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after a young woman's body was found near the Trout River Friday night.
JSO said around 3:18 p.m. a person called 911 to report what they believed to be a body discovered near the edge of a waterway in the 8000 block of Vermillion Street.
Patrol officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and crews from JFRD responded to the scene and located a body near the edge of the waterway.
The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The body discovered is believed to be a woman in her late teens or early 20s, police say.
Police do suspect foul play but have not released any other details at this time.
