JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 49-year-old man is dead after he was shot in front of his home Sunday morning in the Normandy area.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, at about 9:20 a.m., someone called 911 and told dispatch they heard a gunshot and a woman screaming in the 2100 block on Monteau Drive. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the 49-year-old victim unresponsive with a gunshot wound.
First responders pronounced the man dead at the scene, JSO said.
Police say prior to the shooting, the man and his wife were bringing food into the home while their son slept inside. The wife went inside the home just before the man was shot. She heard the gunshot and began to scream for help.
During their investigation, detectives did not find anything missing from the victim. A witness told police that they saw a while male leaving the area shortly after the shooting, but police are unsure whether the person was involved.
