JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a death in Downtown Jacksonville.

Officers were called to the 700 block of N. Main Street at 3:40 a.m. for reports of a suspicious person. That's between E. Beaver Street and E. Union Street.

When officers arrived, they found an unidentified man between 50 and 55 years old lying on the sidewalk unresponsive. The man had visible signs of injuries to his body, according to police.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded and took the victim to UF Health, where he was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
