JSO: Woman shot inside home on Jacksonville's Northside after being 'attacked' by unknown male

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman was shot in the shoulder during a "short, physical struggle" with an "unknown male" while inside of a home on Jacksonville's Northside Monday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO Sergeant Johnson says officers responded to the home on West 20th Street around 9:56 p.m.

Upon arrival, the sheriff's office says officers found the 39-year-old woman standing in front of the house naked while holding the left side of her head. She was taken to a local hospital where she is currently stable, according to Johnson.

"The victim's body was covered in blood," the incident report states.

Police say the woman was "attacked" and that she suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.

"Violent crime unit detectives responded to the scene and spoke with witnesses and canvassed the area for possible evidence," Johnson said. "Currently, it's still early in the investigation."

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
